Graduate Development Program (January Cohort), Associate Analyst, Gas Pipeline Safety & Compliance

Description About the Graduate Development Program National Grid’s Graduate Development Program (GDP) is the company’s flagship pipeline program, targeting recent college graduates joining the company in entry-level full time positions. The GDP is designed to prepare early career professionals for future leadership roles within the organization, aims to support Graduates in developing as leaders, guide their career, and increase their business talents and skills. It provides opportunities for Graduates to explore a broad range of disciplines across our functions and locations, work on a variety of projects, and expand their network.

Graduates start their careers at National Grid with an 8-week Orientation. Graduates will spend time learning the core functions of the business, networking with our Executive team, and traveling to our different jurisdictional areas. By the end of Orientation, Graduates have an in depth understanding of who National Grid is as a company and how we do business. They have also formed a network with their fellow Graduates as well as senior business leaders, key GDP stakeholders and GDP Alumni. Graduates also take part in quarterly development sessions with their cohort as well as complete a Capstone Project at the end of their first year with the company. About the Position Redesign credit and collection processes for regulatory rule changes as ordered by various jurisdictions. Develop and monitor all system changes needed for compliance. Analyze data and activities to provide relevant and up to date information to support decision-making and the effective working of National Grid in rate cases. Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Prepare and write relevant documentation in order that all stakeholders are fully informed and all evidence or statistics are documented. Build upon technical/professional skills within own area of specialism or of other processes in order to continually grow your personal contribution to the business. Maintain and provide information such as regulatory information in order to ensure regulators and other stakeholders are kept up to date with relevant National Grid policies, processes and programs. Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders in order to obtain and share information that will benefit National Grid. Design and implement new processes or policies in order to ensure all working practice (and where relevant, health and safety standards) are compliant with National Grid policies and regulatory requirements. Qualifications Bachelor or Master’s degree from an accredited institution Graduated between December 2016 and December 2017 Earned a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher; official college transcript required for confirmation Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills Preference given to candidates with relevant internship experiences Ability to begin the National Grid Graduate Program January 8, 2018 Proven leadership experience in at least one of the following: College leadership position (e.g., student government, clubs, athletics). Leadership and/or volunteer experience, in and/or out of the college environment Experienced a full or part-time job while at college and acquired relevant work experience\ Experience in legislation and/or regulation preferred Knowledge of relevant industry practice and legislation. Knowledge of current trends within the industry and developments in legislation or regulation. Proficient in relevant software e.g. Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Experience of managing project teams and projects independently. Knowledge of budgeting and operational planning. Experience and proficiency in relevant company related IT systems.
