Graduate Development Program (January Cohort) – Associate Analyst, Billing Operations

Description About the Graduate Development Program National Grid’s Graduate Development Program (GDP) is the company’s flagship pipeline program, targeting recent college graduates joining the company in entry-level full time positions. The GDP is designed to prepare early career professionals for future leadership roles within the organization, aims to support Graduates in developing as leaders, guide their career, and increase their business talents and skills. It provides opportunities for Graduates to explore a broad range of disciplines across our functions and locations, work on a variety of projects, and expand their network.

Graduates start their careers at National Grid with an 8-week Orientation. Graduates will spend time learning the core functions of the business, networking with our Executive team, and traveling to our different jurisdictional areas. By the end of Orientation, Graduates have an in depth understanding of who National Grid is as a company and how we do business. They have also formed a network with their fellow Graduates as well as senior business leaders, key GDP stakeholders and GDP Alumni. Graduates also take part in quarterly development sessions with their cohort as well as complete a Capstone Project at the end of their first year with the company. About the Position: Analyze and interpret data, procedures, activities, and pertinent documents to provide relevant and up to date information to support decision-making and the effective working of National Grid. Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Independently collate, analyze and interpret work unit operational and/or financial data, procedures, activities, and pertinent business documents within one or multiple areas using pre-determined tools, methods and formats in order to support the department’s decision making process. Prepare and write relevant documentation in order that all stakeholders are fully informed and all evidence or statistics are documented. Execute instructions and requests, plan and organize resources and make appropriate arrangements to ensure that work is carried out efficiently and in line with relevant policies and processes. Maintain and provide information such as regulatory or business essential information in order to ensure regulators and other stakeholders are kept up to date with relevant National Grid policies, processes and programs. Monitor and review financial information, updating where necessary in order to identify any anomalies or discrepancies and ensure management has access to up to date and accurate information. Build upon technical / professional skills within own area of specialism or of other processes in order to continually grow your personal contribution to the business. Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders in order to obtain and share information that will benefit National Grid. Monitor and review work undertaken by project team in order to provide feedback on the appropriate use of materials, tools, equipment or resources and adherence to schedules. Manages system access and data security procedures to ensure customer data privacy and protection. Supervise work of other analysts (particularly in the scope of projects) and clerical union staff to high levels of performance and accuracy. Qualifications A Bachelor's or Master's degree in a business, systems, or financial area and up to 2 years of related experience, or equivalent work experience. Graduated between December 2016 and December 2017 Earned a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher; official college transcript required for confirmation Knowledge and experience in one or more areas of customer account management, financial structures, energy management, information systems management, document management, paper and electronic document delivery. Knowledge of National Grid's business operations, company policies and practices. Knowledge of relevant industry practice and legislation. Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access). Skill in relational database querying techniques (SQL) preferred. Understanding of project management techniques and methods. Understanding of fundamental Change Management concepts. Understanding of US Postal System bulk mailing fundamentals . Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills Preference given to candidates with relevant internship experiences Ability to begin the National Grid Graduate Program January 8, 2018 Proven leadership experience in at least one of the following: College leadership position (e.g., student government, clubs, athletics).
