Graduate Development Program (January Cohort) – Associate Analyst, CEI Business Support

Description About the Graduate Development Program National Grid’s Graduate Development Program (GDP) is the company’s flagship pipeline program, targeting recent college graduates joining the company in entry-level full time positions. The GDP is designed to prepare early career professionals for future leadership roles within the organization, aims to support Graduates in developing as leaders, guide their career, and increase their business talents and skills. It provides opportunities for Graduates to explore a broad range of disciplines across our functions and locations, work on a variety of projects, and expand their network.

Graduates start their careers at National Grid with an 8-week Orientation. Graduates will spend time learning the core functions of the business, networking with our Executive team, and traveling to our different jurisdictional areas.

By the end of Orientation, Graduates have an in depth understanding of who National Grid is as a company and how we do business. They have also formed a network with their fellow Graduates as well as senior business leaders, key GDP stakeholders and GDP Alumni. Graduates also take part in quarterly development sessions with their cohort as well as complete a Capstone Project at the end of their first year with the company.

About the Position

This position would be responsible to perform activities that support National Grid’s interconnection of customer distributed generation facilities. These activities would support areas such as, but not limited to, contract administration, renewable energy and net metering programs, various stakeholder reporting, program and/or online portal management, cost reconciliation, process improvement and on-going operational responsibilities for such facilities in accordance with applicable interconnection requirements involving FERC, ISO-NE, state regulatory and corporate tariffs and operating procedures. The GDP Candidate must be detail-oriented and analytically-driven, with proven success in delivering quality customer service within deadline-driven environments. The candidate will enjoy working in a rapidly-evolving industry, and will possess the necessary skills to both solve complex problems and communicate solutions effectively to the teams they will be working with, including Engineering, Legal, Regulatory, and Operations.

Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Review studies, agreements and other documentation of Renewable Energy projects to ensure that internal databases match contract information in compliance with Interconnection Tariff and processes Communicate directly with project owner (s) to ensure that information is correct. Assist in the development and maintenance of internal database. Validate tariff timelines for projects and ensuring that validation reports are sent on time Resolve issues related communication for metering of past projects Act as a primary point of contact within Customer Energy Integration, for the accumulation and reporting of data, providing advice / guidance and support to relevant internal customers in order to ensure everyone is informed and aware of the underlying data so that business decisions can be made on a timely basis. Execute instructions and requests, plan and organize resources and make appropriate arrangements to ensure that work within Customer Energy Integration is carried out efficiently and in line with relevant policies and processes. Enhance and maintain Performance Excellence Hubs. Provide support for the implementation of online application portal, data migration and resolve technical issue related to processing application through portal. Act as a super user and provide necessary support for internal and external stakeholder. Demonstrate proficiency with the tools and systems used to gather the information necessary to accumulate and organize the data we use into appropriate outputs. Produce effective management information and reporting in order to provide insight on customers for more senior team members. Monitor and review work financial information, updating where necessary in order to identify any anomalies or discrepancies and ensure management has access to up-to-date and accurate information Develop relationships with key stakeholders within the Company (including: Legal, Policy, Operations, Planning, Order Fulfillment, Sales, Tax, Jurisdictions etc. in order to fully explain and support the implementation of National Grid policies and processes. Develop a working understanding of the applicable regulations we operate under (example tariffs) in order to provide assistance to our internal customers in delivering the services to the ultimate customers. Collate information and perform regular analyses at e.g. monitoring compliance statistics, in order to ensure more senior team members of the Sales & Program Operations have accurate and up to date information as required. Prepare summaries of project costs (Examples: Construction projects or Energy Efficiency programs) and communicate back to stakeholders any relevant findings or recommendations. Assist with updating department website Assist with customer outreach events Assist with customer inquiries Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor or Master’s degree from an accredited institution Basic engineering knowledge with academics work related to Renewable Energy and/or electrical engineering Graduated between December 2016 and December 2017 Earned a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher; official college transcript required for confirmation Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills Preference given to candidates with relevant internship experiences Ability to begin the National Grid Graduate Program January 8, 2018 Extraordinary attention to detail and organizational skills Outstanding written and verbal communication skills Excellent computer skills, including Windows and Microsoft Excel Ability to work both in a team setting and independently, and exercise excellent judgement Highly motivated, proactive, and energetic Ability to function efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment Prior experience within and/or demonstrated passion for the clean tech sector preferred Experience with SalesForce.com, Business Objects, Tableau, STORMS, and/or SAP preferred Proven leadership experience in at least one of the following: College leadership position (e.g., student government, clubs, athletics) Leadership and/or volunteer experience, in and/or out of the college environment Experienced a full or part-time job while at college and acquired relevant work experience This position is one of National Grid’s career path roles which provide for promotional opportunities within and across salary bands as you develop and evolve in the position by gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
