Graduate Development Program (January Cohort) - Associate Analyst, Business Services Performance

Description About the Graduate Development Program National Grid’s Graduate Development Program (GDP) is the company’s flagship pipeline program, targeting recent college graduates joining the company in entry-level full time positions. The GDP is designed to prepare early career professionals for future leadership roles within the organization, aims to support Graduates in developing as leaders, guide their career, and increase their business talents and skills. It provides opportunities for Graduates to explore a broad range of disciplines across our functions and locations, work on a variety of projects, and expand their network.

Graduates start their careers at National Grid with an 8-week Orientation. Graduates will spend time learning the core functions of the business, networking with our Executive team, and traveling to our different jurisdictional areas. By the end of Orientation, Graduates have an in depth understanding of who National Grid is as a company and how we do business. They have also formed a network with their fellow Graduates as well as senior business leaders, key GDP stakeholders and GDP Alumni. Graduates also take part in quarterly development sessions with their cohort as well as complete a Capstone Project at the end of their first year with the company. About the Position The candidate will support the strategic and support activities within Business Services – US Performance to drive value and performance. This role involves working with the management team to support the development and implementation of Business Services Strategic Priorities. The candidate will personally help to support Business Services teams and ensure that the new ways of working are established and retained. This role is also responsible for assessing project benefits and identifying opportunities to improve the customer experience. The candidate will be required to use all available tools and resources to thoroughly analyze and assess operational performance and customer behavior. The ideal candidate for this position will have the skills and experience necessary to analyze and improve processes. The candidate facilitates the analysis, design, and implementation of process improvements, as well as acts as a liaison with all levels of management and staff during the process improvement lifecycle. This role also involves strong project management and project leadership skills. Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Assist with the identification of process improvement opportunities. Quantify financial opportunities and benefits offered by process improvement projects. Provide process focused analytics support to business process and performance teams. Analyze all aspects of the operations experience, including but not limited to, customer experience, key contact drivers and performance. Ensure all analysis supports appropriate operations investment decisions and optimizes operational expenses. Conduct extensive analysis of performance trends and provide insightful business performance reporting. Adhere to all analytic standards and support all process and performance strategies Conduct ad-hoc analysis when required. Report impact of process improvement efforts. Perform effective change management to ensure long term sustainability of changes.Work and contribute in a collaborative team environment. Drive independently toward key objectives. Qualifications Bachelor or Master’s degree from an accredited institution in an engineering, finance, business, computer science or technical discipline Graduated between December 2016 and December 2017 Earned a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher; official college transcript required for confirmation Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills Preference given to candidates with relevant internship experiences Ability to begin the National Grid Graduate Program January 8, 2018 Proven leadership experience in at least one of the following: College leadership position (e.g., student government, clubs, athletics). Leadership and/or volunteer experience, in and/or out of the college environment Experienced a full or part-time job while at college and acquired relevant work experience Must have the capability for planning, organizing, directing and tracing technical efforts or assigned tasks. Should be capable of tracking cost and schedule status of assigned tasks. Ability to take direction from and discuss decisions with supervisor and to coordinate with peers on projects. Must have demonstrated success with a team approach to the consulting business. 2+ years of analytics experience gained in school or professional career. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point.
