Food Services/Concessions Worker

POSITION SUMMARY:  

Under general direction, prepares and cooks salads, meats, vegetables, and desserts for consumption in the college cafeteria; serves food and beverages; and performs general cleaning and maintenance of the kitchen, cafeteria and concessions. 

Salary:     H35, Rank 16: $11.81 per hour

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Experience in a food establishment is required.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but may not be limited to, the following: 

  •  Prepare food according to prescribed menus to ensure nutritious and tasteful meals
  • Assist with preparing food and operating the concessions for college athletic events when needed
  • Measure and mix ingredients according to recipe, using a variety of utensils and equipment
  • Set up serving line in order that food looks attractive and appealing
  • Run cashier station as necessary and have the ability to accurately take money and make change
  • Maintain kitchen and dining area by cleaning and sanitizing as directed
  • Wash, sanitize, and store dishes, utensils, trays, glasses, pots and pans
  • Clean stoves, deep fryers, and coolers
  • Stock shelves, cooler, and freezer
  • Assist other food service employees as needed
  • Assist with banquets and  other special events
  • Maintain professional conduct in dealing with students, staff, administration, faculty and the college community
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Participate in professional development activities as requested to update food service skills
  • Annually review and revise plan as necessary
  • Knowledge of college policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of institutional food service equipment and methods
  • Knowledge of safety, sanitation, and health regulations
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with individuals, groups, and co-workers
  • Arrive for work at scheduled time, observes scheduled breaks, and maintains appropriate work hours
  • Uses work time efficiently and effectively
  • Math skills to add, subtract, multiply and divide quantities of ingredients in recipes
  • Reading skills to understand recipes, policies, procedures, manuals, and guidelines
  • Willing to work overtime, holidays, and weekends when necessary
  • Willing to wear hairnet and uniform
