Field Representative: Cages

Field Production Representative – Cage Program This position is responsible for reliable and timely production of quality seed in Northern California (Williams, California) with an emphasis on cage production. The incumbent will manage all aspects of safety and compliance, assigned grower contractual agreements and relationships, agronomic practices and other supporting activities for production of vegetable seed crops. This position may supervise seasonal and contract employees. The position is under direct supervision of the Cage and Production Operations Manager. The role may be expanded to include additional responsibilities to support Monsanto business This position will require focus in the following areas: Reliability of Supply and Timeliness
  1. Crop Management, Harvest and Delivery – Knowledgeable of all stages of the crop cycle and the associated agronomic practices. Ensure all production data is reported accurately and in a timely manner.
  2. Production Data and Analysis – Work with the production team to comprehensively review quantity and quality data and addresses areas for improvement, simplification, optimization and/or expansion for the improvement of our business.
  3. Grower Pricing Review Process – Work with peers and area production managers to review grower pricing strategies and reduce financial exposure.
  4. Crop Placement – Ensures crops are placed to meet targeted contract quality, quality and timeliness requirements.
  5. Grower Relations and Contracts– Conducts face to face discussions and negotiations. Ensures best practices and maintains a positive and vibrant grower network. Understands the importance of grower costs and how they are effectively managed.
Safety and Compliance:
  1. Environmental Safety and Health (ESH)– Promotes an environment of safety and ensures all Monsanto safety and health requirements are met.
  2. Compliance – Adheres to company FCPA, Business Conduct and Human Rights policies. Ensures federal, state and local compliance requirements are met, documented and reported as required.
  3. Contractual Agreements - Works with growers to ensure our business needs are secure, according to our production strategy and approved budgets.
Innovation and Sharing
  1. Innovation: Embraces the importance of innovation and promotes an environment of continuous improvement
  2. Production Research – Works with production research personnel to identity and address project activities to improve reliability of supply.
  3. Implementation – Promotes new techniques or procedures among growers and gains their acceptance. Works with internal and external stakeholders to understand new innovations, techniques and methods.
  4. Sharing Best Practices – ensures an environment of open communication among production areas and willingly shares production information within and across our regions.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in agriculture or similar field
  • Minimum of 1 year of related experience working in production agriculture.
  • Excellent communication skills including the capacity to clearly present information and influence or persuade others through oral or written communication
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced global and multi-cultural vegetable seed company
  • Possession of decision and problem solving skills. Capacity to take action in solving problems while exhibiting judgement and a realistic understanding of issues.
  • Personal computer proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and the ability to use a computer or tablet daily
  • Ability to interact cross-functionally with various internal departments and external agencies. The ability to communicate with different reporting levels in a multi-national and cultural organization as an individual or a team
  • Pest control applicator certification
  • Valid driver's license is required
