Field Crew Member

Position SummaryField Crew Members are key members of our team, ensuring highest quality products are delivered. In this position, you will have the opportunity to work across all areas of our farm and seed processing activities, from early to late season planting activities, through harvest and post-harvest activities. You will work closely with and support multiple functions within the site and be a key element in the research, development, processing, and production of seed. Duties and Responsibilities
Perform in all functions of the farm, in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOP) which includes seed production activities in nursery, manufacturing, and maintenance settings. This includes activities such as field preparation, planting, cultivating, pollinating, harvesting, seed processing, crop protection, field purity and irrigation/fertigation, etc.
  • Execute daily direction and work priorities from supervisors and managers
  • Promote teamwork and quality completion of tasks through daily communication and coordination with other crew and supervisors
  • Actively participate in Monsanto's Safety program by adhering to all safety policies and training
  • Assist in training other employees in promoting safety culture of Monsanto
  • Report issues that may affect quality of products to supervisors
  • Operate agriculture equipment, including but not limited to tractors, harvesters, shellers, sprayers, and irrigation equipment as applicable
  • Documenting appropriate agronomic activity using farm management software and technology
  • Assist in other projects and duties as required or assigned

  • Ability to understand and communicate effectively, both verbally and written
  • Familiarity with technology and ability to learn how to use applicable technology, to include (but not limited to) handheld devices and desktop computers
  • Ability to function both individually and as a member of a team
  • Availability to work full-time (40 hours per week) with ability to meet overtime demands including occasional shift work, weekends, and holidays
Desired Skills/Experience:
  • Valid Hawaii driver’s license
  • Ability to operate machinery and agriculture equipment
  • Familiarity with applied technology, including basic computer skills and use of handheld devices
Physical and Environmental Demands:Must be willing and able to work in a variety of areas including the seed processing facility, fields, office and/or warehouse environment. Frequent walking and standing is required on flat and uneven surfaces. This can include frequent work both outdoors and indoors in hot, cold, wet and dry conditions. The position also requires the ability to climb ladders and occasionally perform elevated work. Must be able to lift, push, and pull 40 pounds regularly. Must have availability meet overtime demands, including occasional work on weekends and holidays.Advertisement
