Enrollment Specialist

 

Position: Enrollment Specialist

 

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor degree from a regionally accredited institution.
• Minimum of one (1) year documented supervisory experience.
• Three (3) years of experience in enrollment management.
• Experience in student support programs.
• Experience in an educational setting.
• Documented experience in the use of current educational technologies in the workplace including word processing, spreadsheet, database, social media and presentation software (e.g. Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Blackboard, etc).
• Master degree from a regionally accredited institution is preferred.
• Experience in advising, guiding, or counseling individuals and/or groups is preferred.
• Experience in advising academically under-prepared students preferred.
• Experience working with enrollment services in the areas of career placement, dual enrollment non-traditional and early colleges students is preferred.
• Experience in facilitating placement tests is preferred (e.g. Accuplacer).

• Knowledge of technical and terminal programs and curriculum.
• Knowledge of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
• Knowledge of college admissions, advising, and financial aid processes.
• Effective human relations skills, professionalism, enthusiasm and commitment to career exploration.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to utilize and search the internet for information.
• Ability to effectively motivate others.
• Ability to use the computer effectively for word processing, institutional application, electronic communication, information and data management.
• Ability to coordinate campus visits for prospective students and
• Skills in planning and implementing effective enrollment management strategies.

 


Major Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist applicants, prospective students, and enrolled students with their educational planning and life goals, including: registration, course selection, advisement, career and social life decisions at the community college.
• Assist in the selection of a transfer institution and identify procedures and equivalent Bishop State courses the student should complete prior to transfer.
• Design and maintain a student success monitoring system.
• Develop and implement intervention strategies for retention.
• Instruct/facilitate Orientation ORI101 “Strong Start” Courses.
• Assist with career placement, dual enrollment and help identify non-traditional and early college prospects.
• Assist the Student Services Division with program activities, focusing on the goals of each area.
• Participate in the planning and execution of Division events and student activities.
• Maintain the College’s enrollment management strategies and update data for such plan.
• Improve retention rates for existing students.
• Improve yields at inquiry, application, and enrollment stages.
• Prepare a variety of records and reports regarding student enrollment.
• Track and monitor prospective students from application stages to enrollment.
• Participate in annual planning and evaluation sessions in support of the College’s vision, statement of purpose, and institutional goals and objectives.
• Seek out, participate, and present at professional development events related to the position.
• Have a focus on being friendly and patient in responding to customer needs.
• Have a willingness to maintain flexibility in order to meet customer needs.
• Have a willingness and desire to learn new things and apply that learning.
• Comply with Bishop State Community College, Alabama Community College System policies, and FERPA guidelines.
• Engage in career assessment training and monitor employment trends.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Dean of Students, Vice President of Operations and/or President.

 


Salary: Salary level will be determined by educational attainment level and years of applicable experience according to the ACCS Board of Trustees Salary Schedule: C3 ($56,810-$83,890)
Continued employment is contingent upon funding from the grant.

The Selection Committee will screen all applicants for the position.
