Summary
As a member of the Comcast National Backbone engineering team you will be responsible for the long and short term planning of the Comcast National backbones. You will have a key role in the day to day care feeding of the national networks and their interconnections. You should be familiar with the planning and operation of large scale ISP networks supports IP, Video and Voice.
Accountable for monitoring and influencing relevant standards bodies across Transport and IP layer to influence and incorporate emerging technologies that reduce costs, increase flexibility, and drive better scale across Comcast Infrastructure. Design, beta and launch new service that rely on the national backbone for delivery to our customers and partners.
Integrates knowledge of business and functional priorities. Acts as a key contributor in a complex and crucial environment. May lead teams or projects and shares expertise.


Core Responsibilities
- Applies tactical and strategic approaches to design and new product introduction; balances constraints and opportunities to drive engineering consensus for new product introduction and methodology.
- Reviews, creates, tests and puts in to place automation; driving efficiency and accuracy in to our network hardware deployments, software configurations and event management.
- Leads cross department teams and serves as network technical to ensure smooth introduction of new products and services as well as maintaining support for the continued growth of existing services.
- Creates and documents high-level, detailed network designs.
- Creates and review key reports indicating overall network health and performance. Will push for compliance to drive key KPIs.
- Communicates applicable design guidelines and provides guidance to ensure compliance.
- Strong initiative to build relationships both internally and externally with minimal supervision/direction from management.
- Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
- Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Skills/Experience:
-Strong scripting skills desired in any of the following languages: Python, Perl, PHP, and MySQL
-Experience working on large IP networks desired.
-Specific knowledge of the current Comcast network beneficial.
-Expert understanding of IP routing (ISIS and BGP) and switching (Ethernet).
-Specific knowledge of Cisco routers, especially ASR & NCS series is preferred. Broad knowledge of Cisco and Juniper configurations.
-Expert understanding of IPv4, IPv6, Multicast,
-Advanced knowledge of MPLS.
-Solid business skills to effectively interact with internal and external customers and partners
-Strong documentation skills a plus.


Education Level
- Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent-Engineering, Computer Science

Certifications
- CCNP or equivalent on the job experience;

Years of Experience
- Generally requires 7-11 years related experience.
