Required Education/ Work Experience:

1.     Paramedic with 2 years of field experience

2.     Bachelor’s degree

Required License/ Certification:

  1. Licensed Paramedic with the State of Alabama
  2. Certified Department of Transportation instructor or ability to obtain certification within first semester of employment.
  3. Certified CPR instructor or ability to obtain certification within first semester of employment.

Other Special Qualifications/ Requirements of the job:

  1. International Trauma Life Support instructor or ability to obtain certification within first year of employment.
  2. Advanced Cardiac Life Support instructor or ability to obtain certification within first year of employment.
  3. Emergency Vehicle Operator instructor or ability to obtain certification within first year of employment.
  4. Pediatric Advanced Life Support instructor OR Pediatric Education for Prehospital Professionals Coordinator or ability to obtain certification within first year of employment.
  5. Traumatic Brain Injury instructor (NOT REQUIRED) or ability to obtain certification within first year of employment.

 

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The EMS program director shall be responsible for the coordination and promotion of the EMS program at Enterprise State Community College. As such, the director shall be the chief contact between the college and all national, state, and local agencies regarding EMS matters.

SALARY:

Salary Schedule D1 $39,600 - $77,432

Job Description

 

Job Title:                            EMS Program Director

 

Department:                     Emergency Medical Services (EMS)

 

Reports To:                       Dean of Instruction

 

FLSA Status:                      Exempt

 

Job Summary:                  The EMS program director shall be responsible for the coordination and promotion of the EMS program at Enterprise State Community College. As such, the director shall be the chief contact between the college and all national, state, and local agencies regarding EMS matters.

 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

1.    Institution

  1. Plan EMS course offerings, as well as special activities each semester.
  2. Recommend EMS instructors for employment.
  3. Supervise EMS instructors.
  4. Coordinate registration of EMS enrollees.
  5. Act as liaison with area prehospital care agencies.
  6. Recruit students for EMS programs.
  7. Act as liaison with participating hospitals to provide clinical experiences for EMS students.
  8. Coordinate all course offerings and testing with state EMS office.
  9. Maintain and inventory all EMS equipment, supplies, and teaching aids in an orderly, efficient manner.
  10. Implement a tracking system for all EMS trainees.
  11. Compile and manage an institutional budget for EMS activities.
  12. Organize an active EMS committee.
  1. Alabama Department of Public Health EMS Office (State)

A.    Act as liaison to State EMS Office.

  1. Represent the college on the Educational Committee of State EMS.
  2. Coordinate all EMS activities with the State EMS.
  3. Compile and submit regular reports, as well as specially requested reports to State EMS.
  4. Compile and manage an EMS budget regarding funding from State EMS.
  1. Southeast Alabama Emergency Medical Services, Inc.(SEAEMS)
  2. National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians. (NREMT)
  3. Maintain Paramedic Accreditation (Committee on Accreditation of Emergency Medical Services Program)
  1. Act as liaison to SEAEMS, Inc.
  2. Submit request forms to SEAEMS.
  3. Serve on committees appointed by SEAEMS.
  1. Act as liaison to NREMT.
  2. Comply with NREMT regulations regarding testing, applications, and reports.
