SALARY: See Position Description OPENING DATE: 10/12/17 CLOSING DATE: 11/02/17 02:00 PM JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the division director, associate dean, and/or Dean, Instructional Affairs, the Instructor teaches students according to established policies and procedures to provide competent and effective classroom and laboratory instruction at varied times and places based on student demand.   POSTING DATE: October 12, 2017   SALARY: Based on education and experience commensurate with Salary Schedule D-1 IB for 9 months (range: $35,791 - $56,606).  Higher education level could earn placement on a higher salary schedule.   ANTICIPATED START DATE: January 2, 2018   This position will be based initially at the Wallace Campus in Dothan. 
More than one position in the same job classification may be filled from the applicants for this position should another vacancy occur during the search process.    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/SCREENING PROCESS:
  1. Bachelor's degree in Emergency Medical Services from a regionally accredited institution is required.                                               OR
    Bachelor's degree and an Associate's degree in Emergency Medical Services--Paramedic OR Associate in Applied Science degree in Emergency Medical Services--Paramedic with twenty seven (27) semester hours of course work in emergency medical services at the Paramedic level or the equivalent of twenty seven (27) semester hours of coursework in emergency medical services equivalent to a community or technical college program in emergency medical services--Paramedic from a regionally accredited institution is required.                                                OR
    Associate's degree in Emergency Medical Services --Paramedic OR Associate in Applied Science degree in Emergency Medical Services--Paramedic with twenty seven (27) semester hours of course work in emergency medical services at the Paramedic level or the equivalent of twenty seven (27) semester hours of coursework in emergency medical services equivalent to a community or technical college program in emergency medical services--Paramedic from a regionally accredited institution is required. (NOTE: If selected under this qualification would be required to earn a Bachelor's degree within three years of employment).
  2. Three (3) years of successful full-time experience as a pre-hospital practitioner in the emergency medical field is required.
  3. Current National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certification at the Paramedic level is required.
  4. Current unencumbered Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) licensure as a Paramedic is required.
  5. Current American Heart Association certification as a Basic Cardiac Life Support instructor is required.
  6. Current American Heart Association certification as an Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support instructor is required.
  7. Current American Heart Association certification as a Pediatric Advanced Life Support instructor is required.
  8. Bachelor's degree in Emergency Medical Services is preferred.
  9. Current certification in PEPP, BTLS/ITLS, PHTLS, and AMLS is preferred.
  10. Experience in theoretical and clinical EMS education at the postsecondary level is preferred.
  11. Experience with national and/or regional accreditation requirements and processes is preferred.
  12. Experience with instructional technology, including human patient simulation, Web-based teaching, and course management utilizing the Blackboard platform is preferred.
SCREENING COMMITTEE:  The President will appoint a Screening and Interview Committee to include representatives of the College faculty and staff.  This committee will employ appropriate procedures, including the review of application packets, interview, and demonstration of competency, to determine which applicants are to be recommended to the President for further consideration.  From all the applications received, a screening committee will select the applicants to be interviewed.  All initial interviews will be conducted in person and applicants must travel at their own expense APPLICATION PROCEDURES:

(7)  Copy of current instructor certifications at the ACLS and PALS levels.

(8)  Employment verification letter(s) verifying a minimum of three years' full-time pre-hospital experience as a paramedic.  The letter(s) must include employment dates and job title and be on official letterhead with an authorized personnel signature.  *ONLY when an applicant has a legitimate reason for not obtaining written verification by their own efforts, such as if the business is no longer in operation, an applicant may submit copies of appointment letters or contracts, and if that is not available, you may submit pay stubs or W-2 forms to verify the years of experience that is required.

(9)  Appropriate transcript identifying the applicant, institution, date degree conferred and verifying the applicant has received the minimum of either a Bachelor's degree in EMS OR Bachelor's degree and Associate's degree in EMS-paramedic or the Associate in Applied Science degree in EMS-paramedic with the required 27 semester hours as described above. Transcripts may be unofficial for the application process but they must identify the applicant, institution, degree earned and the date the degree was conferred. (A copy of the diploma will not suffice).
