POSITION:               Dual Enrollment/Outreach Specialist

                                       (Continuation of position is contingent upon grant funding)


  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution required
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience working with students in a high school and /or college setting required
  • Minimum of one (1) year of full-time related work experience in public relations and marketing experience preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, other employees, and the public required
  • Ability to make presentations to students required
  • Excellent computer skills to include Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint required
  • Demonstrated exceptional listening, verbal, written, organizational, and interpersonal skills required

The Dual Enrollment/Outreach Specialist shall perform the duties as specified in conformity with policies established by the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees and the J. F. Drake State Community and Technical College Faculty and Staff Handbook.

  • Develop, direct, evaluate, and refine dual credit program activities and systems
  • Coordinate the registration process for dual credit students, including initial enrollment and course registration processes in consultation with the instructional division.
  • Conduct parent/student information sessions to discuss all aspects of the College’s dual credit program
  • Advise students and parents concerning the dual credit program
  • Prepare dual credit informational materials
  • Travel throughout the College’s service area to maintain contact with the area high schools
  • Establish relationships with the College’s educational partners at the secondary level
  • Work with the instructional division in determining course needs each semester
  • Assist new teachers with onboarding process and act as liaison with Human Resources during the onboarding process
  • Conduct orientation sessions for teachers to clearly identify the aspects of the program as well as DSCTC policies, regulations, requirements, etc.
  • Disseminate information to students and parents prior to each registration period about available dual credit classes
  • Coordinate periodic review of dual enrollment agreements
  • Host and present program details to high school counselors and students for recruitment purposes
  • Educate faculty and staff about program features and objectives
  • Provide advising and career path information to students
  • Under the guidance of the sponsored-fund principal investigator, organize and coordinate summer bridge programs for adults and high school students
  • Under the guidance of the sponsored-fund principal investigator, organize and coordinate summer technology camps for middle school students
  • Under the guidance of the sponsored-fund principal investigator, organize and coordinate summer technology institutes for secondary school educators
  • Coordinate Dual Enrollment STEM courses for high school students participating in the summer bridge programs
  • Serve on committees as requested
  • Retain and submit documentation as required to support accreditation efforts
  • Perform other work related responsibilities as assigned by the Acting Dean of Instruction and/or the President

SALARY:  Appropriate placement on Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees Salary Schedule E-3, Grade 4 ($33,794 - $47,732).
