Where the Chemistry Happens…


We are looking for a Director, Real Estate, who is responsible for pro-actively developing a real estate strategy for North America to optimize BASF facilities and costs. The position is responsible for managing and optimizing the North American real estate portfolio (10M SF) of owned and leased real properties, through acquisitions, dispositions, repurposing or disposing of inactive sites, providing real estate expertise on corporate mergers and acquisitions, and leading and growing the Facility Management initiative currently underway and the proper maintenance of the real estate portfolio database.

Ingredients for Success: What We Look For in You…
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in Real Estate Portfolio and Transaction Management, Account Management, Facility and Project Management required
  • Experience managing real estate portfolios larger than 2 million square feet leased and owned properties, including laboratory, office and warehouse space required
  • A proven track record in real estate management, with a network of external relationships and a variety of references across the industry required
  • Ability to analyze existing portfolios and develop a strategy for the future that is consistent with business objectives as well as to effectively manage projects and priorities in a dynamic work environment, including mergers and acquisitions
  • Demonstrated experience working with cross-functional teams including legal, finance, tax, engineering, EHS, communications, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize diverse but related information (real estate, engineering, safety and ecology) and develop action plans to meet established objectives.
  • Knowledge of corporate real estate principles, operations, and finance.

  • Degree in engineering, finance, accounting or business preferred
  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Working knowledge of environmental remediation preferred
  • Ability to work effectively in a global, regional and functional matrix organization preferred
