BASF Corporation in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina is headquarters for the BASF Crop protection NAFTA Division, and BASF Plant Science L.P. BASF´s Agricultural Solutions Business at BASF´s facility is seeking an experienced director of regional sales. Reporting to the Vice President of US Crop, Director of Sales, US Crop, Western Region will set the overall strategic direction as part of the Leadership Team for the US Crop organization, as well as direct the sales, marketing, operation and business activities of US Crop within the assigned markets to deliver sales and market performance within agreed budget and working capital targets.
Formula for success. You will….
  • Actively participate as a member of US Crop Leadership Team and BASF Corp with the purpose of setting mid to long-term strategy for US Crop and delivering a strong sustainable business. Represent US Crop management and BASF Corp decisions and communications, internally and externally.
  • Direct and implement annual and Mid Term (3 year) sales, marketing and customer strategy (retail and grower) for the region and identify new business opportunities for US Crop and regional growth; keep all directives in line to achieve sales and meet market performance targets.
  • Manage regional sales across greater than 30 brands while responsible for launching new products. Manage within assigned cost center budget and meet or exceed a market performance target to deliver a premium on our cost of capital.
  • Manage personnel to deliver business targets at the Retail and Grower portions of the channel.
  • Establish and maintain business relationships with key area business managers within the retail distribution system. Communicate BASF business strategy and work to ensure retail partners understand and align with BASF business objectives.
  • Represent the region and US Crop marketing organization to identify new business opportunities and marketing strategies
  • Represent the US Crop business with key industry associations designed to promote and steward the agriculture industry.

Ingredients for success. What we look for in you…..
  • Bachelor’s Degree in science or business related discipline required
  • MBA or MS preferred
  • Minimum 15 years of work experience in agricultural products and/or related functions required
  • Understanding of technical services and program fulfillment required
  • Minimum 10 years of sales and/or marketing experience required
  • Management of sales teams and/or marketing teams required
  • Management of sales and marketing budgets necessary
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with US crop market and distribution
  • Preferred that the incumbent reside in the Denver, CO area.
  • Willing to travel at least 50% of the time
