Consumer Fitness and Food Engagement Lead

Consumer Fitness and Food Engagement Lead, Job Description: The Global Stakeholder Engagement Team is focused on cultivating trust and engagement across key societal members. A critical component of this approach is to engage with individuals and groups that are influencing others and have interests and backgrounds in fitness/exercise science as it relates to diet. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Global Consumer Engagement Team to lead the development and implementation of our engagement strategy with influencers in the food for fitness area. This team member will work closely with our corporate engagement team members to establish a strategic plan to cultivate trust and build relationships online and in person with members and strategic consumer influencers of the fitness and food communities. An important part of the overall strategy related to external stakeholder engagement, this individual will conduct outreach activities to build meaningful partnerships between Monsanto and the national or global organizations that are guiding and attracting these leaders. The successful candidate will also work closely with the Monsanto Regulatory Science function and the Corporate Engagement communications team to build the stories and messages necessary to engage with this audience and explain how modern agriculture fuels physically fit bodies. Consumer Fitness and Food Engagement Lead, General Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership to the development, execution and management of Monsanto’s engagement and reputation strategy with specific leadership for the fitness/exercise science community.
  • Work in close collaboration with other members of the Global Stakeholder Engagement Team to ensure clear direction and prioritization of efforts targeting the fitness and food communities, including identification of metrics that can be used to measure and track progress.
  • Develop strategy for engaging food and fitness communities through third party organizations, university recruiting, social media outreach and relevant publications and conferences.
  • Stay current and familiar with communication trends and message effectiveness, as well as directional learning from ongoing engagement and listening with societal stakeholders, focused on the food as fitness/exercise science area.
  • Act as a liaison with other Monsanto teams.
  • Work to proactively engage in social media efforts that target these audiences including YouTube, twitter, Facebook.
  • Engage in collaborative discussions with target audiences both in person and online

Requirements and Qualification
  • Bachelor’s Degree and 5+ years experience in marketing, communications, exercise science or other relevant field
  • Proven written and oral communication skills including speaking in front of large audiences
  • Strong interpersonal/teamwork/influencing/networking skills
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interface with a variety of functions and to influence and drive change within a matrix organization
  • Strategic and creative thinker with the ability to develop ideas into executable plans
  • Online social media presence within fitness community preferred
  • Willing to travel up to 30% of the time
