Compliance Analyst - Corrosion (Associate, Sr., Lead)
Description Job Purpose: Analyze regulatory compliance relative to routine day-to-day operations within Corrosion Department and corrosion control activities of supporting organization of including Gas Field Operations, Construction, Maintenance, Customer Meter Services, and Instrument & Regulation, Monitor compliance activities, records & metrics so as to minimize the company’s exposure to regulatory staff findings of non-compliance. Work closely with Operation Compliance Managers to address Regulatory data requests, audits and assessments. Perform compliance data & field assessments to ensure Operating staff is performing in accordance with all code requirements, work methods and procedures. Manage commitments and data systems designed to demonstrate compliance to the regulatory agencies. Facilitate compliance “coaching assessments” within Corrosion and Operations; provide positive reinforcement feedback to Staff ultimately encouraging a “thinking beyond the word compliance” culture. Key Accountabilities: Analyze and track compliance metrics, work within Corrosion and Operations to help identify compliance trends that require improvement and track action plans to facilitate improvement. Assist with managing and track commitments associated with compliance consent orders and audits. Monitor official company records used to demonstrate compliance with mandated programs including: Testing of over 115,000 Annual cathodic protection reading in accordance with code requirement for these programs Bi-monthly (6 time / year) – rectifier & bond checked Annually Transmission system Annually Distribution system 100’ or greater (rectifiers & anode) Three year cycle – atmospheric inspections (bridges) Seven year cycle transmission pipeline assessments Ten year cycle system under 100’ Ten year cycle - isolated services Atmospheric Corrosion Inspections Gas Plant & I&R Facility testing & inspections Operator Qualification and Tool & Equipment Calibrations Diagnostic work requirements as a result of above prescriptive and mandated testing and inspection programs Corrective remediation work orders required as a result of diagnostic work Follow-up testing to demonstrate remediation work has been completed and corrosion control restored to acceptable levels. Working with Operations & Operations Management, provide support during regulatory audits including working with Regulators in review official Company records. Provide operational support for the above listed programs to the local corrosion supervisors and engineers Monitor data to ensure completeness, accuracy and overall compliance with completion dates. Provide other data and field compliance assessments in accordance with the Pipeline Safety Operations Self Assessment Toolkit for all of the above mentioned corrosion programs Additional Accountabilities: Employees are expected to deliver on the key accountabilities listed above as well as those listed below: Provide routine compliance assessment updates at Safety Briefs to help Corrosion & Operations Staff increase focus on areas of non-compliance in balance with communication of positive feedback where compliance is on target or exceptional. Research and analyze gas procedures and regulatory requirements to determine scenarios that might impact the company. Work with Operation to support development of work practices that minimize company exposure to regulatory action based on observations / assessment findings for Annual monitoring & upgrading of protection for: I&R facilities, Control Lines, Farm Taps, Gas Plants AC & DC Stray Current Mitigation & Interference Testing New Construction & Referrals from Operations. Qualifications Knowledge and Experience Requirements A Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering and 1-5 years of related experience.
Knowledge and experience in gas field operations activities Knowledge of National Grid’s business operations, company policies and practices Proficient in Microsoft Office software such as MS Excel, MS Word, MS Access and MS PowerPoint, Microstrategy Proficient in Company data management/information systems such as mapping systems (GIS), MWORK, etc... as appropriate by jurisdiction. Must possess excellent communication skills specifically within Gas Operations environments, conflict resolution and detailed oriented. Demonstrated ability to meet time/date driven mandates. Familiar with Company Operator Qualification program. Extensive and significant knowledge of one field of work or broad technical depth in multiple, related fields sufficient to lead programs or projects. Knowledge of relevant industry practice and regulations. Knowledge of developments in regulation. Demonstrated leadership capability to work independently to achieve compliance goals and objectives.
