Communications Coordinator

Monsanto's North America Commercial Public Affairs Team seeks a Communications Coordinator who will report to the Public Affairs Lead. The Communications Coordinator helps meet Monsanto’s goals for the hub by developing and executing communication strategies that engage employees in growing the business, and by communicating effectively with Monsanto’s dealers in the U.S. brands. The Communications Coordinator supports the internal communications team in identifying organizational communication needs and meeting them effectively, from leadership meetings and talking points to electronic mass communications. The manager will support internal communications across the hub. The Communications Coordinator also will be involved in aspects of external communications in order to align our employee communications with our external messaging. The role requires a hands-on, strategic thinker who can plan, develop, manage, implement, measure and report on strategic communications programs and projects. Key Responsibilities:
  • Support North America Communication Strategy:
    • Provides internal communication expertise to support business unit management, marketing, sales, human resources and other functions as communication strategies are implemented
    • Works closely with Global Corporate Engagement to communicate Monsanto’s global initiatives and announcements to the organization.
    • Provides leadership communications support (talking points, PowerPoint decks, etc.)
    • Supports town halls and other meetings
    • Ensure internal messaging is accurate and effective
  • Supports customer advocacy programs and product communication efforts as needed, including trade show support and staffing
  • Manages a multitude of simultaneous internal communications projects, while maintaining responsibility for delivery and execution in accordance with project plans, budgets, and timelines

Required Skills/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years relevant working experience in related industry or similar capacity with emphasis on planning and executing internal communications programs
  • Experience working with high-level leadership in an internal communications capacity and ability to provide proactive communications planning for leadership
  • Self-starter with high energy level, strong drive for continued improvements, customer-orientation, and ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organization
  • Strong organizational, analytical and consulting skills and ability to solve complex problems
  • Detail-oriented
  • Excellent written, presentation prep and editorial skills
  • Computer literacy with MS Office applications and SharePoint (or related software)
  • Able to work effectively and collaboratively with multiple stakeholders in a matrix environment
  • Able to work well under pressure, meet tight deadlines and simultaneously manage multiple priorities
  • Available to travel as needed
Desired Skills/Experience:
  • Degree discipline in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or related field
  • Experience managing projects requiring agency and/or freelance support (e.g., PR, creative, web development, writers)
