Column Electrical Assembly & Switches DRE - ENG0037273

The Design Release Engineer (DRE) for Switches is responsible forleading design release for current and future switch assemblies. The engineerin this role will representing the switches organization to internal programteams.


In this role you will develop engineering solutions to release afinal design for production. In the role, you would support the Global LeadDRE, and also work with supplier resident engineers to resolve issues andrelease of parts. As the DRE, you’ll interact with various departments,supporting Manufacturing and Service Engineers, Product Engineering, ProductLaunch teams, as well as working with Quality engineers to investigate warrantyrelated issues, and preparation of the owner’s manual. Additionally, you wouldpresent design alternatives to management for decision. The role requires aproactive individual who will ensure project timing and part availability.


The Lead DRE will also:

- Develop and design package concept.

- Initiate andconduct Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA).

- Prepare andtrack Engineering Change Work Order for release documentation and changes.

- Developdesign alternatives and present them to management for decision.

- Manage ChangeRequests and Issue tracking.

- Coordinatedesign of component with vehicle changes.

- Initiate,analyze and revise design if test/ manufacturing/ field problem is shown intest reports and implement problem resolution.

RequiredQualifications & Experience:

- Bachelor’sdegree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent

- Stronginterpersonal skills: ability to work within GM, suppliers, and with programteams

- Ability toprioritize and balance multiple activities

- Ability toself-motivate / self-direct

- Problem-solvingproficiency

- Knowledge andexperience with design release system and process, manufacturing process, andvehicle validation process.

- Design for SixSigma training and experience

- The ability tolegally operate a motor vehicle



- Master’s Degreeor other Advanced Degree
