Corporate Risk

Corporate Risk helps all Wells Fargo businesses identify and manage risk. The team focuses on several key risk areas including credit risk, operational risk, market risk, strategic risk, and compliance risk. Corporate Risk strives to ensure that all Wells Fargo corporate functions and lines of business soundly manage risk, comply with applicable laws and regulations, and offer products and services that meet the needs of our customers. The group provides leadership, enhances communications, assists with problem identification and solutions, and shares best practices. In addition, Corporate Risk provides an enterprise-wide view of risk, assists management and our Board of Directors in identifying and monitoring risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and takes appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.

Operational Risk & Compliance Testing and Validation Center of Excellence

Within Corporate Risk, the Testing and Validation Center of Excellence (T&V COE) is a newly formed corporate function that is responsible for developing common methodologies and standards for monitoring, testing and issue validation activities being performed across Wells Fargo’s first and second lines of defense   The T&V COE also provides governance and oversight of those standards, and is at the forefront of leading T&V transformation.

Strategic Initiatives

Given the exciting breadth and depth of our T&V COE, the Strategic Initiatives team leads business initiatives that drive the strategic change and transformation across the enterprise.  Our T&V COE strategic initiatives portfolio includes Program Standards, Firm Wide Testing Schedule, Test Script Enhancements, and Automation.   We work in close partnership with our peers and peer stakeholder teams to structure, create, and oversee initiatives the meet the needs of the firm and our partners.   We listen and help build solutions that make sense for everyone.

Job Description

We’re looking for a collaborative and strategic thinking team member to join our Strategic Initiatives team.   As a business initiatives consultant 3, you’ll be a part of leading strategic initiatives that drive efficiency and effectiveness, and contribute to the strategic priorities of the firm.  As such, our initiatives are high profile, are built in partnership with senior leaders, and require passion and commitment to help get things done.

You’ll be the team member on the ground that leads and supports the day-to-day program management and success of strategic initiatives.  Grounded in the strategic and tactical, you possess an adept and flexible program management skillset.  You are able to translate strategic thinking and planning into an implementation plan. 

You can support the build of the program implementation plans, orchestrate partners to stay on track with our plan, and lead the details to make sure things get done.  You also are quick to adjust the details and navigate the team to adapt to our ever fluid needs.   You are a part of strategic thinking and planning.  You help create strategic communications and report out results at all levels.  You are able to take the lead in a virtual, cross-functional team environment, prioritize, and juggle multiple, initiatives.  You have a can do attitude and a nimbleness to drive change with a calm and energetic style.   

You’ll work closely with the leader of the function, the senior strategy consultant on the team, and with various senior stakeholders.   As such, confidence, strong communication skills, the ability to exercise credible challenge when appropriate and a highly collaborative work style are critical to success.



Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: project management, implementation, or strategic planning





Other Desired Qualifications
  • 10+ years of work experience, 5 years in driving change and transformation
  • 10+ years of program management experience, 5 years leading high priority initiatives
  • 5+ years of experience combining strategy, process, planning, and/or business reporting5+ years of experience in highly complex, matrixed environments
  • Virtual leadership experience with ability to effectively drive results, provide feedback/direction, and manage and build relationships with leaders and team members in a
  • geographically dispersed team environment
  • Senior level ability to navigate and support new thinking and organizational change dynamics
  • Experience in SharePoint administration and maintenance for collaboration sites
  • Roll up sleeves and can do attitude, while leading with executive presence
  • Industry and top tier management consultant experience
  • Experience in strategy, process, planning, and/or business reporting for senior audience
  • Experience in and/or strong knowledge of risk, compliance, security, or audit domains
  • Financial services industry or highly regulated industry experience
  • MBA or master’s degree
