Associate Specialist, Customer Choice

Description About the Position: The Specialist, Customer Choice is responsible for all facets of the relationship of the ESCO Billing & Creditworthiness programs between the regulated Company and the natural gas and electric ESCOs in order to support decision making and the development of customer related strategies to optimize business performance. Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Learn and understand the necessary billing systems for each National Grid territory. Become an expert in analyzing Electronic Data Interchange. Prepare and analyze monthly billing reports for each ESCO in order to provide ESCOs with accurate billing. Responsible for ensuring ongoing ESCO compliance with company procedures, SOX requirements, tariffs and regulatory requirements. Must be able to assist in delivery of ad-hoc report requirements and data extracts to support short term business needs. Ensure quality level of customer service. Analyze processes and systems to identify common operating procedures, policies and systems for the Company’s gas and electric Customer Choice activities across its operating territories. Work with internal departments to develop procedures and implement financial and regulatory requirements to minimize risk to the company. Document business cases. Investigate and resolve various billing issues, including purchase of receivables (POR) and pay as you get paid (PAYGP) in order to manage and control specific cost variables. Analyze and maintain accurate billing control reports on a daily basis. Research any outstanding issues to resolution in a timely manner. Ensure all billing and creditworthiness reports are worked and monitor collection process to optimize cash flow. Investigate and resolve issues and inquiries across National Grid’s operating territories involving the ESCOs. Become familiar with and understand the governing Rules for each National Grid territory as it relates to Customer Choice. Qualifications Knowledge & Experience Required: Bachelor’s degree preferred and 1+ years related work experience Candidate must possess strong analytical and problem solving skills involving process analysis, data inconsistencies and exception reporting. Demonstrate the ability to interpret information and analyze relationships among several parts of a problem or situation in order to clearly articulate the findings and anticipate obstacles and thinks ahead about next steps. Working knowledge of appropriate risk management practices, accounting rules and state and federal regulatory rules. Excellent computer skills with a strong working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Visio. Must have solid communication skills (oral and written) and pro-active flexible style with the ability to work under tight deadlines.
