Associate Analyst/Analyst – Procurement – Shared Services

About the Position: The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Procurement organization to drive strategic initiatives that support National Grid’s global procurement strategy. The right candidate will have strong analytical skills with a high degree of proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, database tools, and financial analysis. Primary responsibilities will include any of the below items, individually or in combination, and will require the ability to prioritize and balance multiple assignments simultaneously and to respond to continually evolving business needs. The analyst will have high visibility and support presentations to senior leadership. Forward looking in nature, the analyst will support ad-hoc projects as necessary while identifying and promoting innovations or recommendations for shifting strategy. The candidate will be expected to support the following strategic and support activities within National Grid to drive strategy, value, and performance: Global Procurement Strategy This role involves interactions with all levels of the procurement organization and others in National Grid, supporting category management and sourcing, as well as strategic initiatives for the betterment of procurement and the overall supply chain in National Grid. As part of a global team, the position involves partnering with peers in our UK office to help drive global processes and opportunities. Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Procurement Strategy Market Research/Market Intelligence Research, analysis, and summarization of regional, national, and global market and commodity trends, both short-term and long-term. Supplier Assessment Research and identify potential new suppliers for sourcing initiatives. Provide in depth analysis of supplier financial risk to safeguard National Grid’s interest in its partnership with .suppliers. Support Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) programs through assessment of supplier risk (financial, safety, legal) and assessment of supplier contract performance. Data Analysis Complex Bid Analysis Provide in-depth data and bid analysis in support of complex sourcing projects to enable well-informed negotiations and contract award. Analysis and Reporting Extract and analyze internal systems data to support performance reporting and monitoring. Perform deep dive analysis of data for root cause analysis and problem resolution. Evaluate and summarize data into quantifiable measurements/KPIs with corresponding trending and reporting. Database Management and Reporting Maintain existing database tools and develop reporting capabilities. Develop/design new database applications for developing information and analytical needs. Financial Management Partner with Finance to develop and track delivery of Procurement value. Develop and monitor performance metrics. Engage with stakeholders to ensure process adherence and meet annual targets. Risk & Compliance Management Provide oversight and guidance on risk and compliance programs to manage supply chain risk and maintain continuity of supply. Coordinate and facilitate business resiliency programs. Liaise with corporate ethics teams and provide guidance to Procurement organization. Project Management Lead projects, as an individual or as a team lead, to drive value and deliver documented results. Prepare detailed plans to track project performance and assure timely completion and achievement of project deliverables. Identify and manage project risks and issues that impact project progress. Qualifications Knowledge & Experience Required : Skills: Highly-analytical with the ability to draw conclusions and identify opportunities using disparate sources of data. Strong research and data interpretation skills. Strong team and partnering skills. Ability to bring creative and innovative ideas to delivering solutions. Ability to deal with ambiguity and the corresponding ability to make decisions or recommendations on incomplete information. Able to influence and manage others without direct authority. Qualifications Required: Requires a BA or BS degree or higher in an engineering, finance, business, or technical discipline from an accredited college or university. Skilled in the use of analytical tools such as: DNBI, Ariba, SAP BI. Knowledge of Lean or other Performance Excellence tools desired. Prior experience in analytical and/or strategic procurement role or function. Minimum 4-6 years’ experience. Experience in leading a cross functional team to deliver tangible business benefits Experienced at working with and influencing key stakeholders. Understanding of change management challenges related to evolving business needs.
