Associate Analyst, Accounting Research and Policy

Description About the Position: Finance Operations, Associate Analyst, Accounting Research and Policy is responsible for supporting accounting research and policy activities. Collects documentation of technical accounting issues and complex transactions. Reports to the Manager, Accounting Research and Policy, provides research support and documents policy standards in Finance Operations. Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Responsible for supporting Research and Policy through accurate data entry. Records developments and evaluations of Finance Operations accounting practices and activities. Documents issues and change impacts to ensure processes are kept consistent. Researches and monitors activities of accounting standards and reporting practices. Updates accounting policies and reviews implementation into Finance departments. Supports the development of technical training by providing administrative support to ensure compliance to policy standards. Supports the preparation of consolidated and subsidiary financial statements in compliance to US GAAP, SEC requirements and IFRS in relation to accounting policy. Responsible for accurate and timely recording and processing of transactions to support finance activities. Assists with technical finance documentation according to policies and processes. Responsible for supporting financial and non-financial controls to meet business requirements. Qualifications Knowledge and Experience Required: Accounting knowledge Attention to detail Technical Accounting General Accounting Identify patterns and trends Utility industry accounting US GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley, SEC regulations and IFRS Process Management Month-end close processes Risk mitigation Qualifications Required: Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration, with limited experience in finance Ability to create policy documentation Strong attention to detail Experience documenting system requirements Strong administrative and computer skills This position is one of National Grid’s career path roles which provide for promotional opportunities within and across salary bands as you develop and evolve in the position by gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills.
