Analyst / Senior Analyst, Accounting Research & Policy

Description About the Position: Finance Operations, Senior Analyst, Accounting Research & Policy is responsible for providing technical accounting support by reviewing and responding to data requests and completing memorandums and similar documents. Reviews documents (e.g. contracts, financial reports, presentations) and provides recommendations regarding accounting implications. Reports to the Manager, Accounting Research & Policy. Researches and documents policy standards in Finance Operations. Documents financial policies and accounting principles in accordance to US GAAP, SEC regulations, IFRS and local accounting principles. Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Applies technical standards and analysis to complex accounting practices and transactions. Collaborates in the development, evaluation and documentation of Finance Operations accounting practices and activities. Collaborates in technical accounting research, analysis and documentation on specific/complex projects in accordance with US GAAP, SEC regulations, IFRS and local accounting principles in conjunction with mergers & acquisitions and investment growth of the U.S. operating businesses. Responsible for monitoring and identifying issues as well as overseeing change impacts. Researches and monitors activities of all accounting standards and reporting practices to provide proactive revisions to policies and standards. Creates accounting policy documentation, ensuring implementation in Finance. Provides input on policy and implementation guidance for new FASB and IFRS standards. Participates in the development of technical training to ensure compliance with policy standards. Works directly with the business to provide technical accounting perspectives and conclusions on a timely basis for proposed transactions, including comparisons of conclusions based on structures. . Qualifications Knowledge and Experience Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Master’s Degree preferred. 3+ years in accounting with increasing responsibility. Demonstrated ability to research and apply accounting policy standards. Background in utility service or similar industry accounting. Accounting Research and Policy Development. CPA preferred. Technical Accounting. General accounting. Utility industry accounting preferred. Identify patterns and trends. US GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley, SEC regulations and IFRS.
