Active Safety Sr. Design Release Engineer (DRE) forAdvanced Park Assist Systems


Automated Driving and Active Safety is one of the fastestdeveloping areas of automotive engineering. General Motors is looking forexceptional candidates to lead the hardware and software development anddeployment for sensing technologies. The candidate will be responsible fordefinition of requirements, design, analysis, development, testing andmanagement of engineering project for Active Safety Ultrasonic sensors andECU’s where strong analytical and problem solving skills, creativity,resourcefulness, adaptability, initiative and independent judgement areinvolved. The candidate will exercise technical direction over other engineersor engineering support personnel and may have work direction responsibilitiesover a small group with specific engineering objectives.


Some specific tasks are highlighted below:


·        DRE for Automated Driving sensing (UltrasonicSensors, ECU’s, and Brackets) including all elements of hardware and software

·        Supports BFO with component technicalspecifications as well as statement of requirements as required

·        Leads formal design, peer, and quality reviews

·        Leads resolution of technical issues with proper5-phase or 8D as required

·        Leads product development team meetings

·        Supports vehicle Failure Mode and EffectAnalysis (FMEA) activity

·        Supports sourcing activities

·        Leads/manages supplier resident engineers

·        Support new features roll out – APA3, APA4(Supervised & Unsupervised Parking)

·        Primary GM engineering interface with thecomponent suppliers

·        Intimate knowledge of hardware and softwareinterfaces

·        Ensure all vehicle program imperatives (cost,timing, investment, and quality) are met

·        Generates technical solutions for current, newand major programs

·        Provides technical leadership for advancedtechnology development

·        Performs complex design analysis

·        Develops engineering designs

·        Implements engineering changes

·        Initiates documents to provide engineeringauthority and to maintain math data

·        Works with engineering functions, suppliers,plant personnel and others to implement cost reduction, product improvements,and support builds

·        Works with OnStar and Quality to analyze andunderstand field performance and react quickly to quality concerns

·        Plans and implements test and/or developmentprograms

·        Releases parts and subsystems for production andknowledge of calibration development

·        Communicates information to and from internaland external customer organizations

·        Coordinates and consults with departmentsoutside engineering, such as manufacturing

·        Travels as required
